Audit Committee of the Federal Government (ACFO-CAAF)
The Audit Committee of the Federal Government (ACFO-CAAF) is an independent advisory body that assists the federal government.
It issues the Council of Ministers with opinions and recommendations about the general workings of the federal public services.
ACFO-CAAF's main responsibilities are as follows
- The committee helps the government to assess the way the federal public services run, specifically by evaluating their internal control systems with regard to:
- performance of ordered, ethical, economical, effective and efficient transactions;
- compliance with the obligations to account for actions and to provide reliable financial and management information;
- compliance with the applicable laws and regulations;
- protection of resources against loss, misuse and damage.
ACFO-CAAF bases its work in this connection on the internal audit activities carried out within the departments.
- ACFO-CAAF raises the alarm if it detects any major issues in the departments with regard to compliance with the obligations to account for actions and to provide reliable financial and management information.
- It guarantees that internal audit activities are independent and ensures that they are effective and of high quality.
